Sweet Palmiers, Puff Pastry Cookies
Ingredients:
  • Puff pastry - 2 Sheets
  • Granulated Sugar - 1 - 1 ½ cup
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Cinnamon powder - a pinch, optional
Instructions:

Initial Preparation:

  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets as described in the puff pastry packet.
  2. Combine the sugar, cinnamon and salt together in a bowl.

Making Palmiers:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Sprinkle some sugar mixture on the work surface, and place one of the the puff pastry sheet on it.
  3. Gently roll it using a rolling pin, and sprinkle some sugar mixture evenly over the pastry sheet.
  4. First, fold both the sides half way towards the center of the pastry sheet.(refer video or images)
  5. Fold both sides again towards the center, so they join at the middle of the pastry sheet. (refer video or images)
  6. Fold one half of the pastry over the other half. (refer video or images)
  7. Slice the folded pastry sheets into ½ inch thick pieces.
  8. Dip each pieces into the sugar mixture and arrange them in a baking sheet, by the cut side down position.
  9. Bake them until golden on bottom, for about 10-12 minutes.
  10. Take out the baking sheet from oven, and flip the cookies to the other side and bake for another 6 to 7 minutes or until golden spots appear on top.
  11. Remove from the oven, and cool completely on a wire rack. Continue the process with the other puff-pastry sheet.

Yield: Make about 30 cookies
