  • Ground beef - 500 Gms
  • Egg - 1 Nos
  • Onion, minced - ½ cup
  • Garlic - 2 Nos, finely chopped
  • Tamarind paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Dark soy sauce - 1 Teaspoon
  • White vinegar - 1 Teaspoon
  • Powdered Cloves - a small pinch
  • Black pepper powder - ¾ Teaspoon
  • Bread crumbs - ½ cup
  • Oil as required
  • Salt to taste

For burger assembling:

  • Hamburger buns, 4 inch wide - 4-6 Nos, split
  • Mayonnaise as required, ½-¾ tablespoon for one burger
  • Tomato Ketchup as required, ½-¾ tablespoon for one burger
  • Cheese slices - 4-6 Nos
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Ripe tomato, cut into round thin slices
  • Red onion, cut into round thin slices
  • Butter for brushing

Patty Preparation:

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add in the minced onion and garlic, saute until the onions are caramelized on medium heat. Remove from heat and transfer to a bowl.
  2. In a large bowl, add in the ground beef, egg, bread crumbs, caramelized onion and garlic, tamarind paste, dark soy sauce, vinegar, powdered cloves, pepper powder, salt and mix until well combined. Keep it aside for 20 minutes.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4-6 equal portions. Then shape each portion into a patty about 4 inches wide and ½-¾ inch thick.
  4. Heat 1-2 tablespoon oil in a pan, fry the patties one at a time, until browned on both sides and no longer pink inside for about 10-15 minutes total on low-medium heat.
  5. On the last minute of frying, place a slice of cheese to the burger and close it with a lid.
  6. Once the cheese starts to melt, transfer the patty to a platter and start assembling.

Burger Assembling:

  1. Heat a pan, brush butter and lightly toast the burger bun's bottom and top (cut side down), for about 30 seconds to 1 minute.
  2. Place bun bottoms in the serving dish and spread ketchup over it. Arrange lettuce leaves on top.
  3. Then place the cheese topped fried patty over it. Place onion, tomato slices and spread mayonnaise on top.
  4. Set bun tops in place. Similarly continue with the remaining patties.
  5. Serve hot.

  • If you want to cook the patties on grill,
    • 5 minutes on the grill per side over a medium-high flame until browned on both sides and no longer pink inside for about 8-10 minutes total.
    • Adjust the grilling time, depending on the patty size and the grill temperature.
