Ingredients
  • Capsicum - 2 medium, chopped
  • Chopped Onion - ½ cup
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds - ½ Teaspoon
  • Dried Red Chillies - 2 Nos
  • Black Pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Vegetable oil - 1 Tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

For Coconut Masala:

  • Grated coconut - ¼ cup
  • Garlic - 1-2 medium cloves
  • Green chillies - 1 small, chopped
  • Cumin Seeds - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Salt - ½ Teaspoon
Directions
  1. Coarsely grind together the ingredients mentioned in 'For coconut Masala' without adding water. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds. Then add in the dried red chilies and fry for 30 seconds.
  3. Add in the chopped onion and curry leaves. Saute for 1 minute on medium heat.
  4. Now add in the chopped capsicum, turmeric powder, salt and mix well.
  5. Cook until the capsicum is half cooked on medium heat, then add in the prepared coconut masala and mix well.
  6. Cook until the thoran is dry enough to serve. Stir occasionally.
  7. Once the water content evaporates completely, add in the pepper powder and mix well. Remove from heat and serve hot.
