Kerala style Pepper Prawns Fry
Ingredients:
  • Prawns - 250 Gms, peeled and deveined
  • Onion, small sized - 1 Nos, thinly sliced
  • Green chilies - 1-2 Nos, slit
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Ginger-garlic paste - ½ Tablespoon
  • Coriander powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Pepper powder - ½ - 1 Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Coconut oil - 2-3 Tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

For Marination:

  • Ginger-garlic paste - ½ Tablespoon
  • Red chili powder - ¾ Teaspoon
  • Black Pepper powder - 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin powder – ¼ Teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Lemon juice - 2 Teaspoon
  • Curry leaves - 1 sprig
  • Salt - ½ Teaspoon
Instructions:
  1. Take the cleaned prawns and the ingredients mentioned in 'For Marination', in a bowl. Mix well and set aside for 1 hour.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add in the sliced onion, green chilies, curry leaves and saute until the onions turn light brown.
  3. Now add in the ginger-garlic paste and fry until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Then add in the turmeric powder, coriander powder, pepper powder and fry for 1-2 minutes on low heat.
  5. Add in the marinated prawns and mix well. Cover and cook for about 5 minutes on low heat. Stir occasionally.
  6. After 5 minutes, open the pan and fry until the prawns are cooked well on low heat. Adjust salt.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes:

  • It's a spicy prawns fry :) So adjust the quantity of pepper powder according to your spice tolerance level.
