Ingredients

For the batter:

  • All purpose flour - ¾ cup
  • Cornflour - 3 Tablespoon
  • Ginger garlic paste - 1 Teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - 1 Teaspoon
  • Water - ¾ cup
  • Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste

For the manchurian:

  • Mushrooms - 250 Gms, wash and cut into small cube sized pieces
  • Bell pepper / Capsicum - 1 Nos( medium sized), diced
  • Onion - ½ of a medium one, diced
  • Finely chopped Spring onion whites - 3 Tablespoon
  • Finely chopped Ginger - 2 Teaspoon
  • Finely chopped Garlic - 2 Teaspoon
  • Green chillies- 2-3 Nos, finely chopped
  • Finely chopped Spring onion whites- 3 Tablespoon
  • Kashmiri chilli powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Black pepper powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Soy sauce - ¾ Tablespoon
  • Tomato sauce - 1 Tablespoon
  • Hot water - ¼ cup
  • Sugar - ½ Teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying + 1 Tablespoon

For garnishing:

  • Finely chopped Spring onion greens - 3 Tablespoon
  • Finely chopped coriander leaves - 2 Tablespoon

  1. Mix together all the ingredients mentioned in 'For the batter' and make a thick paste.
  2. Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.
  3. Dip the mushroom pieces into the batter, place it in the hot oil and deep fry until golden brown. Transfer to a paper towel and set aside.
  4. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan, add the diced onion and saute until translucent.
  5. Then add spring onion whites and stir for a minute over medium heat.
  6. Then add the diced bell pepper, chopped green chilli, ginger, garlic and stir for a minute over medium heat.
  7. Now add the soy sauce, tomato sauce, black pepper, kashmiri chilli powder, sugar and mix well.
  8. Add in the fried mushrooms and mix well. Add in the hot water and mix well. Check for salt.
  9. Cook till dry, garnished with chopped spring onion greens and coriander leaves.
  10. Serve hot.
