Ingredients
  • Grated Coconut - 1 ½ cup
  • Granulated Sugar - ¾ cup
  • Tutti-frutti or candied fruit cake mix - ¼ cup
  • Almonds - 10 Nos
  • Cashew nuts - 15 Nos
  • Seedless Raisins - ¼ cup
  • Candied Red Cherries - 5-8 Nos, chopped
  • Cardamom powder - ½ Teaspoon
  • Egg white - 1 Nos
  • Ghee - 1 Tablespoon
  • Puff pastry sheet as required for 12 puffs
Directions

Initial Preparation:

  1. Thaw the puff pastry sheets as instructed in the package. Cut it into 12 pieces and set aside. I used 2 ½ full sheets.
  2. Coarse ground the almonds, cashew nuts and set aside.

Filling Preparation:

  1. Heat ghee in a large pan, add in the grated coconut and fry until slight brown in color or for about 3 minutes on medium flame.
  2. Set heat to very lowest setting. Add in the sugar and stir well for 30 seconds.
  3. Add in the coarsely ground almonds, cashew nuts and mix well.
  4. Then add the raisins, tutti-frutti, cherries and fry for about 1 minute on low flame.
  5. Switch off the stove, add cardamom powder and mix well. Let it cool completely.

Making Puffs:

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F.
  2. Sprinkle little all-purpose flour on the working surface, place the pastry sheet pieces on it.
  3. Slightly stretch each pastry sheet pieces with a roller. Place coconut filling into one side of the pastry sheet piece, then fold and seal the puffs perfectly( refer video ).
  4. Arrange the puffs in a greased baking tray, leave some space between each puffs.
  5. Beat the egg white and brush it on the prepared puffs.
  6. Bake for 15 – 22 minutes or until the puffs turns medium golden color on top.
  7. Serve warm.
