Ingredients
  • All purpose flour - 3 cups
  • Baking powder - 3 Teaspoons
  • Unsalted butter - 1 cup, softened
  • Granulated sugar - 2 cups
  • Buttermilk - 2 cups
  • Eggs - 4 Nos
  • Egg yolks - 2 Nos
  • Salt - 1 Teaspoon
  • Vanilla extract - 2½ Teaspoons
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 350º F.
  2. Prepare two 8 inch round baking pans by coating with butter and lightly flouring; Remove the excess flour and set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, mix together butter and sugar for about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beat well. Then, add egg yolks in the same way.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together all purpose flour, baking powder and salt.
  6. Add half of the mixture into the mixing bowl and beat until combined.
  7. Then add half of buttermilk and beat until combined.
  8. Now add the remaining flour mixture, buttermilk, vanilla extract and combine well.
  9. Divide the cake batter between the baking pans and bake for about 22-25 minutes or the wooden skewer inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
  10. Remove from oven and allow to cool on wire-rack for about 8-10 minutes.
