Ingredients
  • Raw mango - 1 Nos, medium sized
  • Turmeric powder - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Dried red chillies - 2 Nos
  • Mustard seeds - ½ Teaspoon
  • Coconut oil - 2 Tablespoons
  • Curry leaves - 1 Sprig
  • Salt to taste
For grinding:
  • Grated coconut - 1 cup
  • Cumin seeds - ¼ Teaspoon
  • Green chillies - 2 Nos
  • Garlic - 3-4 cloves
Directions
  1. Wash and chop the mango into medium sized cube pieces.
  2. Grind the ingredients mentioned in 'For grinding' with little water and make a smooth paste and set aside.
  3. Cook the chopped mango pieces, salt, turmeric powder with just enough water, till the mangoes become little soft.
  4. Heat oil in a pan, splutter mustard seeds, then add curry leaves, dried red chillies and saute for few seconds, now add coconut paste and mix well.
  5. Add the cooked mango along with little water. ( Refer notes )
  6. Check for salt. Cook on low heat for about 3-4 minutes, don't forget to stir continuously. Remove from heat when the curry is hot.
  7. Serve with rice.
Notes:
  1. Adjust the curry to a medium consistency, by adding water.
  2. You can also use the same water used for boiling mango, but add little by little and taste the sourness after each addition.
